変身

Transformation

When I woke up... By Kota (Grade 1)
One morning, I woke up to find myself to have become a pencil. "Why am I so heavy?　What's wrong with me?" I wondered at first. "Well, let's have a look at myself in a mirror."
"Oh! gee", I shouted. What I saw there was a pink pencil with a pointed lead! My body wasn't frozen, but was so stiff that I couldn't turn my head. It's unbelievable! What on the earth had happened to me?
I heard Mom calling me for breakfast. I went to the kitchen, sat at the dining table and knocked myself onto the top of the table to the rhythm of "O-HA-YO-U" (GOOD-MORN-ING)

When I woke up... By Asako (Grade 2)

 One morning, I woke up to find myself to have become a curtain. The first thing that came to my mind was that I might not be able to get back to what I used be. Being a curtain wasn't comfortable. The drafts were passing by my body, and I felt strange when my woven body touched the window.
Before long, my mom came into my room to wake me up. The moment she pulled over the blanket on me, she stood still with a scream. I tried to say something, but I couldn't give my voice out anyhow. More to my surprise, I wasn't in my bed. Yes. I am here! I am a curtain now!

When I woke up... By Satoko (Grade 5)

 One morning, I woke up to find myself to have become a case of mechanical pencil lead. Though I was here, another I was still sleeping in my bed. "As another I exists, I don't have to worry." I thought.
All of a sudden, another I woke up. When she saw me, she made a suspicious face and threw me from the upper side of the bunk bed. I had no pain though I hit myself on the floor. Then another I put me in her pencil case. I had a strange feeling.
When I arrived at school, two leads were taken out of my body. The mechanical pencil I was supposed to go into was a hateful fellow. He was also bossy in the pencil case on our way to school. I started to feel uneasy as I recalled his bad attitude.
