"The beginning" by Masumi (Grade 4)


 We treat a wedding or the first day of a new school term as a very important occasion.
Considering this tradition, I guess that we have made much of "the beginning" and that we celebrate "the beginning" itself as a special event.
When I looked up the kanji word for "the beginning" ,which is '始', in the dictionary, I found it consists of the part of 'a woman',which is '女', and 'a base' ,which is '台'. It also explained, "Any human being is born from a female and this kanji deprived of the saying that a female is a base of human lives."
I thought that the word "the beginning" was a wonderful word.

 Happy incidents happen. This may be thanks to the "beginning". For example, a good start at the beginning of a year may lead us to a happy year to live.or have a chance to have a great experience in the year. I think the reason why they celebrate the first day is to make the year great and to hope lots of pleasant things will happen. This is what I thought "beginning" was.


My precious time by Rui (Grade 7) Another precious time is, though it's entirely different form the other one, when I am reading in a silence by myself. But the time differs depending on what book I read. For example, when I am reading a book on ancient times, I feel as if I heard a clock ticking in the middle of a huge room.
On the other hand, when I am reading a modern book, I imagine a scene outside a mountain cottage, and I have a feeling as if plenty of pure white shirts were blowing in the wind.
My another favorite time is when I read a book all alone in my room.

War by Atsutaka (Grade 4) It may be natural to fight against each other as everyone does have a desire.
With an ultimate power, I could start a war against someone.
I didn't know how cruel a war was before I had read or seen a movie about it. Those who don't know the cruelty of a war may possibly prefer to fight in a war. Because they are able to, or may be able to fulfill their ambition.
